Students from Bodoland University Complete Their M.Sc. Dissertation Research at the Wildlife Genetics Laboratory

The Wildlife Genetics Laboratory (WGL), Aaranyak, is pleased to share that Ms. Priya Dutta and Ms. Suparna Saha, M.Sc. Zoology students from Bodoland University, successfully completed their dissertation research at WGL during their internship from January to April 2026.

As part of their dissertation work, Ms. Priya Dutta carried out a study titled "Molecular Authentication of Traded Invertebrate Species in Local Markets for Sustainable Utilization," while Ms. Suparna Saha completed her dissertation on "DNA Barcoding-Based Identification and Authentication of Traditional Medicinal Plants Used in Human Healthcare Traded in Local Markets of Guwahati." Both studies employed molecular tools to address important questions related to biodiversity conservation, sustainable utilization, and species authentication.

The research was conducted under the guidance of Mr. Udayan Borthakur and the co-guidance of Dr. Pranjal Kumar Das from WGL, with academic supervision from Prof. Hilloljyoti Singha, Head, Department of Zoology, Bodoland University.
