Molecular research at Aaranyak's Wildlife Genetics Laboratory is helping to save the endangered Western hoolock gibbons, as reported in The Hindu as part of technology for conservation initiatives supported by The Habitats Trust.

It is worth mentioning that Wildlife Genetics Laboratory of Aaranyak is employing various molecular technology, such as DNA tools to identify major source populations of gibbons in northeast India and Enzyme immunoassay tools to study the levels of stress exerted on the species by various anthropogenic activities. The lab carries out studies using fecal samples from the wild and captivity, something that does not require trapping or physical handling of these animals to obtain biological samples for research.
